Thursday: The water temp was 79.9 in the am and topped at 82.4 in the pm. The clarity was good. The wind was out of the SSE in the morning at 2-4 mph then swung around to the SW at 9-11 MPH by the afternoon. There were lots of bait including Cigar Minnows, Alewives, Speedos, and Spanish Sardine. Hardtails were caught in mass all day. There was a good Spanish Mackerel run in the early morning with a couple of Bonita in the mix like the one Jackie is holding. The afternoon saw more Spanish Mackerel. A few were approaching 3-pounds. Chewy got one of the better size Spanish. Jeffery hooked and fought a Tarpon for a few minutes before his line broke at the splice. Five King Mackerel were hooked with three decked. Sam and Jose got fish about 10-pounds and an unknown angler got a “snake” King. Late afternoon the Ladyfish came in thick. They were eating anything you put into the water. Then several Dolphin arrived, and the party was pretty much over.


Friday: The water temp was 80.6 in the am and topped at 84.4 in the pm. The clarity was beginning to get a little silty by the end of the day. The wind was out of the W in the morning at 7-9 mph then swung around to the WSW at 13-15 MPH by the afternoon. There were two Mahi, a Bonita and some Spanish Mackerel caught in the morning. The afternoon began slow with a Spanish Mackerel coming over the rail several minutes apart. Will began casting a small jig for Spanish when he got thumped by a “snake” King. Will, while using a light rig, light line and a jig on a mono leader, brought his fish to the gaff. That would be the only King bite until about 5:00 when James D. had a hit on a small Cigar Minnow. A short fight later, he got his fish to the gaff. He had had a long dry spell, so this was a welcomed bite. Big schools of Ladyfish came in about 4:30 and were eating everything. Hardtails were caught all day but not on the numbers we had yesterday. Several schools of Tarpon came by, but none ate.

Saturday: The water temp was 81.5 in the am and topped at 84.9 in the pm. The clarity was silty. The wind was out of the W in the morning at 9-11 mph then swung around to the WSW at 16-20 MPH by the afternoon. There were Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish, Hardtails caught. Three King Mackerel hit the deck, two by Cuba. Hunter Z and one other angler brought Tarpon to the pier. The pier was crazy crowded in the afternoon.

Sunday: Saturday: The water temp was 82.8 in the am, dropped to 80.6 mid-day and topped at 84?? in the pm. The clarity was silty on the end Tee and dirty in the shallows. The wind was out of the WSW in the morning at 15-22 mph then swung around to the W at 16-?? MPH by the afternoon. There were Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish, Hardtails caught. A couple of Kings were landed, and a Mahi.
Monday: The water temp was 81.9 in the am and topped at 83.5 in the pm. The clarity was mostly clean outside of the sandbar and dirty in the shallows. The wind was out of the WSW in the morning at 15-20 mph then swung around to the SW at 9-14 MPH by the afternoon. There were two Bonita, a couple of King Mackerel, several Spanish Mackerel and Hardtails in the morning. Young Haden caught a “snake” King, a couple of Bonita and several Spanish. The afternoon saw several more “schoolie” Kings like these that Slick and Jose are holding. Spanish Mackerel, Hardtails and ladyfish were caught as well. Several Tarpon were hooked and two legal size Cobia were hooked but lost.


Tuesday: water temp 81.9 S 10-12 80.8 then 84.2 WSW 10-12 The water temp was 81.9 in the am, dropped to 80.8 mid-day and topped at 84.2 in the pm. The clarity was silty on the end Tee and dirty in the shallows. The wind was out of the S in the morning at 10-12 mph then swung around to the WSW at 10-12 MPH by the afternoon. There were a couple of King Mackerel, a Bonita and Spanish Mackerel in the morning. The afternoon brought 10 King hits with 6 decked like this one Quang got. Spanish Mackerel and Hardtails were caught too. Schools of Tarpon came by but John C. was the only angler to hook-up and bring one to the pier. Bait was thick early in the day but was harder to get in the afternoon. There were Cigar Minnows, Alewives, a few Speedos and Spanish Sardine.
Wednesday: water temp 81.1 NE 2 The water temp was 81.1 in the am and topped at 84.0 in the pm. The water was a little silty. The wind was NE at 2 MPG in the morning, increased to 12-14 out of the SE mid-day and then died in the afternoon. There were a few Bonita, Spanish Mackerel and lots of Hardtails caught. There were at least ten King Mackerel hooked but only four hit the deck. Jason from Jacksonville caught a very nice Mahi. There was bait everywhere including Cigar Minnows, Spanish Sardine, Speedos and Alewives.
Red Tide status: In Northwest Florida Over the past week, the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was observed at very low concentrations in one sample collected offshore of Levy County. Karenia brevis was not observed in samples collected from Santa Rosa, Walton, Bay, Gulf, Franklin, or Wakulla counties.
